This week at the Cinema - June 1: For Greater Glory, Piranha 3DD and Snow White and the Huntsman

This week at the cinema we have a diverse group of movies. First we have the "based on a true event" drama -- For Greater Glory. Next we have the horror/comedy, boob popping sequel to a remake -- Piranha 3DD. And lastly we have a darker, but still tween friendly, take on a classic fairy tale -- Snow White and the Huntsman.

For Greater Glory looks like the typical based on a true story film that proves that someone can beat the odds and overcome adversity. I'm sure it'll have an uplifting plot and will probably get nominated for awards. It looks pretty good, but it's not on my top ten list of films to see this summer.

Piranha 3DD is a sequel to a remake of a B film from 1978 that already had a sequel. I didn't see the remake from 2010, but I should considering it's just supposed to be a goofy, fun horror comedy and you usually can't go wrong with those...unless the acting is terrible. If the acting is that bad, well that's when the bare breasts come into play. As many filmmakers have found out, boobs solve many problems with a film. Acting is bad, show some cleavage. Plot holes in the film, graphic sex scene. They even put the fact that there is major boobage in the film in the title, with the double dee, like we didn't know what we were in for to begin with.

Snow White and the Huntsman stars Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron and Ian McShane. Like I said previously, this is a darker twist on an old classic. The gist is, Theron wants Stewart dead and hires Hemsworth to do it. So essentially Thor is trying to kill Bella -- which I'd actually pay to see. I feel that Stewart is just an average actress with the emotional range of a potato and she breaths like she only has one lung...and it's asthmatic. Despite that, this movie does look pretty good. And it has Nick Frost in it somewhere...not in the trailer, but somewhere. I was really hoping the film with a similar story that's starring Sean Bean would blow this away, but sadly this looks better. I'm sure I'll be let down by the fact that the film will be targeted for the masses and devoid of all significant content. This is how many films are nowadays.
