This week at the cinema - June 8: Prometheus and Madagascar 3

This is the week I've been waiting for a while, Prometheus makes its way into theaters. And for the kids we have Madagascar 3.

Madagascar 3:Europe's Most Wanted is an easy paycheck for the already famous cast. I say it's an easy paycheck because in CGI films like this one, the voice actors have far less work to do that the artists behind the film. The CPU of the computers they use to render probably works the hardest, but I'll not side with the machines just yet -- I'll wait until they rise up against us for that.

Prometheus looks exciting and has sounded exciting since I first heard about it. This is Ridley Scott's return to sci-fi and what a way to do it too. The film's story started out as an idea for an Alien prequel. Somewhere from that thought to the end product, the idea changed a wee bit. Instead of a full-on Alien prequel, we have a big-budget sci-fi film that's still set in the realm of Alien or as Scott said "it still has Alien DNA." The film has all the characteristics of a great film. One: it's co-written by one of the guys who wrote for the show Lost. Two: Scott directing a sci-fi film AND it's based in the neighborhood of Alien (he did that too, in case you're a little behind). And Three: Solid actors like Charlize Theron (2 consecutive weeks, 2 Summer Blockbusters...make that money), Michael Fassbender and Idris Elba (who is awesome in everything he does).

If I seem excited, it's because I am. The two big films I want to see this summer are Prometheus and The Dark Knight Rises.
